I havent used this mp3 player in over a year. It wouldn't play and erased almost all of my songs I downloaded from Rhapsody saying that the songs were not licensed.I gave up trying to use this thing. I guess you get what you paid for. I guess its worth it to spend $200 to $300 on a mp3 player than $100.

I bought this a year ago based on reviews I read, but was very disappointed.



Initially started with issues with the power switch (the slider). It would not turn on. The second issue was I could not transfer files to the player. The software would not recognize the portable device.



I had to send it back to Samsung, they fixed the issues, but every now and then, even when fully charged, the unit does not power on.



Sound is great and looks are great, but has firmware and hardware issues. I will think twice before buying another of these.

I have been using this player 5 to 6 days a week at the gym for the last 2 years and it is still going strong. I added a set of sennhieser cx 300 ear buds that I picked up cheap and the sound is amazing. If all you want is a great music player and that's it this is a great deal.

When i got this i was so happy and excited. It was great and had many features on it like,photos,voice recorder,F.M. radio,and mp3 player. I got it in 2007 when it first came out and had it for a half of a year when something went wrong. I loved it more than any mp3/ipod that i ever had, becides it did not have any games but that was not a have to have. After i charged it more and more the charge did not last as long and a half a year later the charge did not last but three days. Even when i did not listen to it and it was turned off the charge went down. So after a while i charged it one night for the next day and the next day i turned it on and it was out of charge. So it was not even worth using. So later after i stored it away i bought an ipod and it has almost been a year since i had it and it has not stoped working or gotten stolen or anything. It is awsome. After a year i tried it again and it still runs out of charge when i dont listen to it. So do not buy this unless u buy it from the samsung store.

My daughter (9 yearsl old) saved her Christmas money for this very big disappointment. We bought it, and expected that it would work as easily as my T10, however, after hours on the phone to Rhapsody, then to Samsung, we determined that the device did not operate properly. It would create errors and never allow for proper downloading of songs. We will send it back to get our money back and warn anyone who expects ease and enjoyment from this model.

 "Emodio Software for Player is a Nightmare" 2009-11-17

The YP-S3 player itself isn't the issue, but the Emodio softeware, the firmware and USB connection.

Half the time when you plug in the player the response is "USB device not recognized" and have to try it again.

The firmware for the player is not updated automatically. You must save the zipped file, unzip it, then copy the file from the unzipped location to the main folder of the player through the Windows Explorer. Much too involved for someone who isn't computer literate.

The single biggest issue is trying to transfer songs to the player. If you try and transfer more than a few songs, the program freezes up, EVERY time. You then have to close the program through the task manager, reopen it and try it again. Trying to load several hundred songs is an exercise in frustration.

Also, playlists you create on the player when it's connected to your PC DON'T show up on the player when you use it.

Considering the above issues, I wouldn't buy another Samsung MP3 player and wouldn't recommend one to others.

I have a Samsung T10 and thought I would get a more recent version (S3) for my teenager. Everything worked fine for several months, then licensing problems cropped up. At first, I thought it was the fact that the date wasn't set properly. That fixed it at first, but then the problem came back. Support from Samsung has been fairly clueless. I'm now forced to find something else. In this case, the latest was NOT better.

Bought this to use with Rhapsody to Go, and it has been nothing but a pain. The track licenses from Rhapsody are supposed to last for 30 days, but on this Samsung player the licenses disappear after about three days - so you have to get back on Rhapsody and renew the licenses every few days or nothing will play. Other people have noted problems with the clock - yes, for some reason it loses the date and time frequently - maybe that's what causes the track licenses to disappear.



After trying the fixes suggested by Rhapsody several times, I give up. I have had no success getting firmware updates through Emodio. Samsung please pay attention, this has turned me off on all your products.

I bought this MP3 player based on reviews that said it had very good sound quality and great battery life. I have had the device a few months now, and I am not disappointed. My previous MP3 player did not have a touch control, so it took just a little getting used to, but is very easy to use. The battery life is longer than my previous MP3 player, which is great because I can listen to it at work all day and take it to the gym for a workout without worrying about the battery running out. I am also able to pick up lots of radio stations and the reception is clear. The player is also very slender and can be easily placed in your pocket while listening, you'll just need to change the controls to a lock position. All in all, I think it's a great MP3 player for the price range.

I bought the p2 and had a lot of play time with it. The videos are nice to view. The music quality is great. You can make calls through it. The only thing I didn't like is the emodio software that comes with it. but it is not necessary to use. It made trouble with datacasts don't work on vista x64 and they aren't even that good. It also might cause installation trouble. I would however reccomend installing it, so it can update your firmware, and you can download themes with it. You can also listen to radio and a whole bunch of other stuff that you can find on any review. If you are looking for an mp3/mp4 player buy this. By the way .svi is basically .avi just convert your video with any converter and use the 480x272 resolution and your good to go.

This is, by far, is the best mp3 I have. I had Sony, an older model of Samsung, and just bought Sansa Fuze.

For me, this Samsung P2 has the best sound quality. I use it at the gym most of the time. The touch screen makes it easy to scroll and find the songs/playlist I want to hear. I can say this because I brought my Sansa Fuze to the gym and it was annoying trying to find the playlists, or certain songs.

I listen to P2 with my JVC earbud headphone HA-FX66. This is the best combination.

FYI: the reason I bought Sansa Fuze was because I accidentaly left my P2 in my jacket and washed it. It was there for one whole cycle. When taking clothes out from washer, my heart almost fell when I saw my P2 and my earphones. I thought they all broke but my curiousity saved me. I hooked it up back to computer and guess what..... the usual P2 logo came on right away, everything is working, my songs, all the pictures are still there...the sound is still great!! Unbelievable.

I bought this mp3 player as a replacement. I had bought the same exact kind at a Wal-Mart about a year and a half ago but it was stolen out of my car. When I searched for it on Amazon, I was ecstatic when I saw the low price I could pay for a refurbished version of what I had before. One flaw is that the screen is not securely attached to the base so it is possible that it could pop off. However, this has only happened once and I've been using it pretty much every day. Other than that, I am very satisfied.

I got this MP3 Player before my iPod Touch 2nd Gen. This actually is a really good MP3. Although sometimes the touch response is off by couple of seconds. But it has one of the best sound quality because it has DNSE which comes with many Samsung MP3's, also it has a built in FM radio, its Bluetooth Capable, also you can choose to play the song at a speed you want to play it at. So you can choose to extremely fast or really slow.
